True Harvest Roadmap Part 3: Our Web 3 Investment Fund
This is Part 3 of our series where we dive deeper into the features on the True Harvest Roadmap.
*Nothing in this blog post should be considered financial advice*
One of the best aspects of building in Web 3 is following all the other projects being built in real time. The amount of creativity and innovation is staggering.
There’s something about the mood right now. It feels more collaborative than competitive.
I think it’s the amount of optimism and positivity flowing through the ecosystem. Everyone tinkering on the edge in Web 3 has been able to connect with others doing the same.
It’s never been easier to do with the kind of technology we have.
Want to learn about a project? Read their website, follow them on Twitter, DM them on Discord, send them an email, ask questions, do research. Chances are you can connect directly with one of the creators.
You’re only limited by your time and attention.
There’s also an “Us vs. Them” mentality going around.
The New vs. the Old.
Take the Constitution DAO as an example: An organization forms online with the sole intent of purchasing a copy of the Constitution at a Sotheby’s auction.
The DAO crowdfunded $50 million worth of crypto in an effort to win the auction, but ended up getting outbid by a hedge fund billionaire.
If that isn’t the start of a rivalry, I don’t know what is.
The two sides are building armies for the impending battle for the future.
As usual, the younger generation is organizing faster with better technology, but the old guard still controls the entire legacy system.
I keep hearing how early we are. And I believe it.
We’re early enough that real shots haven’t been fired. And nobody has taken a real punch yet.
(Except for that guy who got served a subpoena right before he went on stage at a crypto conference. That was a cheap shot and I would prepare for more.)
But I’m an optimist, so I tend to look for upside in every situation.
One of the best opportunities I’m seeing right now is for early Web 3 builders to invest in other Web 3 projects.
I’m seeing the best talent move from Web 2 to Web 3.
Normal people haven’t caught on to the shift to Web 3.
If we’re as early as people think, it means there’s still incredible value to be had by investing in other projects.
At True Harvest, we’re allocating 5% of our treasury to invest in other Web 3 organizations.
The best investors bet big on their strongest convictions.
If everyone in Web 3 is certain they’re building the future, they should be investing resources into the ecosystem as a whole. Not only because they’ll see outsized returns for their organization, but also to strengthen the foundation for their fellow Web 3 travelers.
If you were sharp enough to understand the shift to Web 3, I’m confident you can filter out the nonsense, and find quality projects to invest in.
Armies are being formed to take on the old guard, and new alliances have to be created.
War chests have to be built.
The spoils of victory will go to those shrewd enough to invest early in the best around them.
